European Day of Languages

Every year on September 26, we celebrate the European Day of Languages to show the diversity of cultures, people and communication styles of our continent.

European Day of Languages

Being one of the top 20 LSPs in Southeastern Europe, we are glad that we can proudly celebrate the European Day of Languages and we invite you to celebrate it with us!

Here are some interesting facts about the European languages:

  • There are about 225 native languages in Europe – which makes 3% of the world’s total.
  • Languages are related to each other and most European languages belong to the Indo-European family.
  • Most European languages belong to the three linguistic branches: Germanic, Romance and Slavic.
  • Most European languages use the Latin alphabet. Some Slavic languages use the Cyrillic alphabet. Greek, Armenian, Georgian and Yiddish have their own alphabets.
  • Due to the influx of migrants and refugees, Europe has become largely multilingual. About 300 languages are spoken in London alone (Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish, Berber, Hindi, Punjabi, etc.).
