Internship Course for Students of University of Zagreb Completed

In keeping with the tradition of the development of cooperation between the language service industry and the academic community, Ciklopea organized an internship course for the students of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb from September 21 to October 2.

Eight students of English and German studies had an opportunity to gain insight into the translation work in a professional environment and become familiar with the concept of computer assisted translation tools (CAT) and quality assurance (QA) tools, while all participants performed translation tasks with the support from their dedicated mentors.

The students thus acquired practical work experience in the language industry and became familiar with the possible vocations and directions for their career development.

The cooperation between the academic community and translation companies is of great importance for the general development of the language industry and it represents an opportunity for the students, professors, researchers and other members of the academic community to learn about the true demands of the market, as well as for the language service providers to find out about the latest academic trends, which make this cooperation mutually beneficial.

This year’s two-week internship course was ended successfully and we are looking forward to cooperating with schools and universities in the future.
